Welcome from the conference chair

On behalf of the University of Limerick and the ISSC 2026 Organising Committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2026 Irish Signals and Systems Conference (ISSC), hosted at the University of Limerick.

The Irish Signals and Systems Conference has a long and distinguished history as Ireland’s premier forum for the dissemination of high-quality research in signals, systems, electronics, computing, and related interdisciplinary fields. ISSC 2026 continues this tradition by bringing together researchers, engineers, practitioners, and students from academia and industry to share ideas, present new research, and foster collaboration in a collegial and inclusive environment.

The rapid evolution of digital technologies, intelligent systems, and interconnected infrastructures continues to reshape how signals and systems are designed, analysed, and deployed. ISSC 2026 provides an important platform to reflect on these developments, explore emerging challenges, and discuss innovative solutions that span theory, application, and real-world impact.

The conference welcomes contributions from senior researchers, early-career academics, and postgraduate students, as well as professionals from industry. This diversity of perspectives is a defining strength of ISSC and plays a vital role in maintaining its relevance and vibrancy. As in previous years, all accepted papers will be subject to peer review and, subject to meeting IEEE requirements, will be indexed in IEEE Xplore. Best Paper Awards will also be presented to recognise outstanding contributions.

The University of Limerick is delighted to host ISSC 2026 on its campus. UL has a strong track record in research, innovation, and industry engagement, and we look forward to welcoming delegates to Limerick for what promises to be a stimulating and rewarding conference experience, both technically and socially.

I would like to thank the organising committee, reviewers, session chairs, and volunteers for their commitment and hard work in making ISSC 2026 possible. I also extend my thanks to all authors and participants for their contributions to the conference.

I look forward to welcoming you to Limerick and to an engaging and enjoyable ISSC 2026.
